K-talk: 2013’s Mnet Asian Music Awards is a joke

Hello, guys! Christina here! How are you? How was your day? Did you watched MAMA 2013? Did you enjoyed it? Because I’ve watched it and I am so D I S A P P O I N T E D… like, well, all the past 5 years… So, firstly, let’s see who won and then let’s make a review/point of view about this award show:

Best Dance Performance – Female Solo – CL
Best Dance Performance – Male Solo – G-Dragon
Best Dance Performance – Female Group – SiStar
Best Dance Performance – Male Group – SHINee

Best Band Performance – Busker Bucker
Best Music Video – G-Dragon
Best OST – Yoon Mi Rae
Grand Prizes:
Song of the Year – Cho Yong Pil
Artist of the Year – G-Dragon
Album of the Year – EXO

Now, I’m not being biased or hating on anyone because all of the artist work hard this year bla, bla… but, some of the winners just don’t deserve it. For Example: SiStar winning the Style in Music Award, Crayon Pop for Best New Female Artist or Cho Yong Pil for Song of the Year and the list can go on… I don’t understand how and why those artist won. It’s obvious that Song of the Year was EXO’s “Growl” only by looking at M!Countdown music show. It was the most popular this year.
Another winner that didn’t deserve to win in the Best Dance Performance category was G-Dragon for “Crooked”. Like seriously! Did the judges ever watched a live performance of that song? It has 0% choreography and GD didn’t even dances that much… For Best New Female Award I think we can all agree it was Lee Hi‘s but, then again the judges thought otherwise. I don’t have anything in particular with Crayon Pop but, they just had one song that it did well when Lee Hi’s all 3 title tracks were charted and also won many times. If I’m not wrong she also won Song of the Month in Cyworld Chart. Yes, I know that is something else…
I think out of all categories I agree with Best Music Video, Best Dance Performance – Male Group, Best Female Group, Best Male Artist, Best OST, Best Concert Performance, I not sure about Best Female Vocal Performance yet (I’d like IU to win), Best Rap Performance, Best Female Artist and Album of the Year.
On the other side, the show was a total mess… the camera times were most of the time wrong and bad. I’m still wondering what happened to Hoya and Hyuna at the end of the performance… Some of the performance were so bad filmed that you need to pay attention to listen and try to guess who’s singing more than who’s singing in front of your eyes. Also, the mics and sound were so bad and out of sync and because of this a lot of artist had to suffer.
The only nice thing about the whole MAMA show were some performance which made a total impact to the audience such as Ylvis and Crayon Pop’s collaboration (this one was probably the best and hilarious one!), BIG BANG‘s or EXO’s. Oh, and how did I forgot about Troublemaker‘s one…?! Yeah, I can’t wait to hear another “they are just friends” article from CUBE Ent. after that scene xD
I think the show became less boring with Rain‘s appearance! That performance was so brilliant and awesome and if I’m not mistaken there was a countdown too for his comeback. It said something like “2014.06.01“. Will Rain’s comeback be in January? OMG! I’m so excited!
All in all, this year’s MAMA was like it was in the past: a total joke… The awards weren’t given to people who truly deserve it… but, why I am complaining? I should have known it before the actual award ceremony that it will be “made up”.
I spent 6 hours of my life to watch this show. I’m not going to say it was a lose of time because I’d lie if I say this. I enjoyed some of the performance and some awards MCs… like for example Jang Hyuk who announced Album of the Year. I think that was the most amazing part of the show. He teased us so much… and I think I wasn’t the only one who figured out that the winner will be EXO. The hand gesture said it all! I’m just sad that because of all his teasing I wasn’t able to see EXO’s full speech thou… my internet connection died EXACTLY a few seconds before he announced the winner. Name it bad luck… >_<
And yup… this is my story and opinion for this year’s Mnet Asian Music Awards. Pretty mad but, you know… the true winners are in our hearts and in reality the MAMA show doesn’t matter. Till next year support your favorite artist! And remember there’s still Golden Music Awards, Seoul Music Awards and the list can go on!
Go! Go! Hwaiting!

ReviewTime: G-Dragon- CROOKED

1378368493_safe_image

My The charming bad boy called “G-Dragon” has released a music video for his second title track called “Crooked”! In my opinion it is way better than “Coup d’etat”: I like it better because it’s more upbeat and the lyrics actually have some meaning!
The song somehow reminds me of Epik High’s “Don’t hate me”. Not in they way they sound, but in the way it makes me feel: the kind of song that gets me pumped up and wanting to sing along! The song is a sad one-typical for GD – I do not remember a title song by him where he sang about how happy he is. Only heartbreaks and moments when she’s gone or that xx is messing with his girl and now… the poor guy is crooked because nothing lasts forever. Not even love!
I wish he could find that special one, so that he wouldn’t be so sad! Maybe he won’t reveal her to the world, because the fangirls might murder her, but I believe I would sense a change in his music style if he would be truly happy! You know genius people are always misunderstood and unhappy!tumblr_mspvffDtWz1safekto2_500
The video is definitely a hot mess! I know GD is one handsome fella, but in this video he was absolutely gorgeous: I could stare at him the entire day! The music video was filmed in the UK,and there we have GD running on the streets, partying like crazy, picking up a fight with a bodyguard, pissed at happy couples! Jiyong baby… I know life is tough… but, you can’t destroy other people happiness just because you envy them!large
For me this music video looks like it was filmed after he got in a fight and broke up with his girlfriend, then got drunk, went out to party and get wasted! Definitely, one crazy video! Everything was going well… he was getting wasted pretty fine, then… BAM! He starts crying in the bathroom… with a toilet paper roll next to him! And a big one too… I guess he needed something to whipe his tears off!

Honestly, I could never get tired of this music video! I wish I could go, acting all crazy on the streets, venting my anger and people still being all right with it! Meanwhile, I’ll just watch G-Dragon do that instead!

Also, he just had his comeback at “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” and the atmosphere was amazing! No loud fangirls spoiling the moment! Check it out if you want to see his crazy ass in action!

ReviewTime: G-Dragon – Coup d’etat

G-Dragon_1377588165_af_orgFrom all the teaser photos, I knew his comeback music video would be some crazy, mind-blowing sh*t! But,when I watched it, it went beyond my expectations! I don’t have the slightest idea who came up with the concept of the music video, but it was f*cking brilliant! I think I’ve used two bad words so far,but it’s the only way I can describe how I truly feel! You see, I’m a VIP and, since Big Bang hasn’t had a comeback in a while and Seungri‘s solo didn’t really appeal to me, I was so hyped up by GD’s comeback! I, honestly, still don’t know if I like it or not! The song itself isn’t really what I was expecting and I kinda…don’t feel it…it’s like one of those regular beats. It’s GD! I thought he would make some sick beat that would be stuck in my head for days! But, this one, seems a little boring and plain!
The song is called “Coup d’etat”. Coup d’etat is a French word for overthrowing the government-a revolution! I imagined the song would be about how hard it is for someone like GD to musically express himself in a country like Korea. As you know, many of his songs/music videos have been banned! But…..I was wrong! The lyrics themselves didn’t have that much of a deep meaning! It was basically about how GD as an artist is revolutionary in the k-pop industy! Here are some lyrics from his song: “Gorilla that steals girls hearts/Bang bang bang I earn money with my teeth” and the best one “I’m so fresh,so clean, I compete with the laundry house” ! Amazing! So deep..! It’s alright,I can get past the lyrics because the music video was crazy, weird, awesome at the same time! And it seemed like the video had more meaning than the lyrics!

tumblr_mshdz6t9ud1rhgsrxo3_500The scene where he rips his skin left me with my mouth hanging open! I guess that symbolizes that, through this album he is, once again, reborn! The visuals of the music video are pure art! I can see he is trying to make a huge change in his image as an artist! Previous concepts of his solo albums are also featured in the video.Like the apple theme and the GD masks!
tumblr_mshs6owanu1qfstkpo1_1280Oh! So, that’s why he tweeted the picture with his black mask face on…For me, that particular scene represents that he is different from his previous images! Different from any artist out there! There are so many things to say about the music video that it would take me an entire day to talk about it! It was well thought and full of meaning and, even though the song isn’t really my cup of tea, the music video is “One of a kind”. I couldn’t expect less from GD! I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album! Meanwhile, I’ll continue to delight my sight with his “Coup d’etat” music video!  A video of a true artist!

ReviewTime: CL – The Baddest Female

ScreenShot2013-05-27at105043PM

The song

I was going to say nothing about this and I still think like that, but I just can’t. The song is stuck in my head for some good hours now… so I think making a review about it would make me feel a little bit better (but in a good way).
CL is one of my favorite YG artist. I like her from her debut days and when she debuted as a 2NE1 member I was very happy. I like her voice (especially when sing) and her self. BUT… I have to say this time I don’t like it.
My first attempt of listening to “The Baddest Female” was awful… I didn’t like it and I still have doubts if I like it or not (still, the “na nabbeun gijibe” part is playing hide-and-seek in my head…). The song has some good parts and some bad. For example, the beginning is a total fail. The chorus thou is very cheerful and happy. I think this is the reason why I played again the song and played again, and again, and again till I started to actually like it! The last part —> the best.
Yep, now after listening to it for 30 minutes I can’t without listening to it… kill me *haha*

The MV

Even if I didn’t like the song at the beginning, the MV was a total surprise for me. It reminded me of “I AM THE BEST” days from so many points of view! The colors, the meaning, the cloths, everything. Now I know why Yang Hyun Suk (YG’s CEO) had high praise for the MV. It totally blow your mind.

cl

The were some moments that made me laugh so hard, smile like an idiot because of cuteness and made me say “WTF?”. I love the part with “male” CL with that mustache xD which BTW was brilliant. The only thing that I actually didn’t like was CL’s gold teeth – this just doesn’t fit her. So… here we have GD and Taeyang and Lydia Paek, but, BUT let’s talk about GD cuz he for sure belongs to “WTF moments”. What is he wearing?! Or should I say what is he not wearing xD GD baby I know you’re a fashionista but you still have to wear pants! I loved how CL’s and Taeyang’s bandana matches here kehe…

THE  MOST ADORABLE CUTE LITTLE PRINCESS EVER

the-most-adorable-cute-little-princess

Seriously!!! Look at this little human. SHE IS ADORABLE! Made my day when I saw her.
All in all… I still hate the beginning. I just can’t like it… the rest of the song is ok. The last part is the best!

Haven’t seen CL’s “The Baddest Female” MV yet? Check it out below:
