We Recommend – Episode 9

I don’t know if many of you knows who Koyote is but, if you don’t then you are missing out a lot! Koyote is a co-ed group composed of Shinji, Kim Jong Min and Bbaek Ga who debuted more then 15 years ago but, in a different formula. If you’ve watched “Unstoppable: High Kick! Season 1” then you are pretty familiar who Shinji is.
They made their comeback this May after 4 year hiatus and they even released a follow-up song… which I’m going to recommend to you this episode. The follow-up song, “Hollywood” released this July is a disco track who brings back the ’80 sound! If it wasn’t my friend, Errin, I, probably, would not have listen to this song ever… So thank you ^^
What I love about this, it’s that is danceable and immediately brings a smile on your face when sad or when not! I tried to learn the dance but, I failed >_> … Also, the MV is damn hilarious! I can say (and this is my personal opinion) that the way the MV “describes” the Hollywood characters is Korean’s point of view about American superheroes. Well, watch it and tell me what you think about it! I’m really curious!

This week, for me, it’s the underrated rookies edition: there are many groups that debuted last year who were amazing but, we all know that in k-pop, if you don’t come from a large company, the chances of succeeding are slim. In other words, either work their butts off many years or just stay in the shadow. Last year, for me, the best rookie girl group was definitely SPICA! Those girls have some pretty amazing vocals and they really won me over with their song “Russian Roulette”! Also, they sound amazing live! They’re having a comeback soon: I can’t wait!

Kdrama Review: Unstoppable High Kick! Season 1

Unstopable High Kick

Genre: comedy
Year: 2006
Episodes: 167 (+4 special episodes)
Cast: Kim Hye Sung, Jung Il Woo, Kim Bum, Jung Jun Ha, Park Hae Mi

My rating: 9.5/10

“Unstoppable High Kick” was my first daily sitcom Korean drama I ever watched and I have to say that I did watch it because many people said is one (maybe the best) daily sitcom Korea ever had. And I agree.
From the very first episode I laughed so hard because of the story of the characters and because of their stupidness.
It took me a little more time to finish the drama because it’s pretty long (167 episodes + 4 special ones), but it did worth the time spent watching it.
The drama has all that it needs to become a national sensation (which actually did): comedy, some family problems, romance (not that intense, but that little amount of love to make it more delicious) and many, many genres that would please even the most grumpiest person!
The main story concentrates on Lee Yunho (Jung Il Woo) and his older brother, Lee Minho (Kim Hye Sung), both of them portraying the typical Korean teenagers, but in an opposite way. Lee Yunho, is a motorcycle lover and bully-like student, always sleeping or skipping classes. His brother, Lee Minho, is one year older than him, but attending the same class at school as Lee Yunho. He’s a model student, always getting high marks and being number one in everything at school.
The Lee family, a big family with unusual habits, is composed of Lee Soon Jae – the grandfather – a oriental medicine doctor who loves money more than anything in the world, Na Moon Hee – the grandmother – a strong women who does all the cleaning and cooking in the house despite her old age and who always has word-fights with her daughter-in-law, Park Hae Mi. Park Hae Mi, is Yunho and Minho’s mother. She is a respected doctor who works at her father-in-law’s hospital, always proud of her skills and a talkative woman who always has to have the last word in a conversation. Her husband, Lee Jun Ha (Jung Jun Ha), has the nickname “Lord of Gluttony” because he eats nonstop. He lives at home as an unsuccessful investor depending on his wife earnings. As for the rest of the family, Lee Min Yong (Choi Min Yong), Shin Ji (Koyote’s Shin Ji) and Joon (Go Chae Min), I’ll let you discover their story.
The drama goes up and down describing their daily life that is always full of funny moments and unforgettable stories. Even if at first the drama looks like a never ending daily sitcom, actually there’s a story behind all the hilarious moments that will start to develop around episode 50.
Through all 167 episodes you’ll understand the characters and their hard/not so hard life, learning that even if your life is bad and s**ks, there is always someone who’ll be there for you to cheer you up.
